The Oikonomia Network
The Oikonomia Network, an initiative of the Kern Family Foundation, is a learning community for theological educators and evangelical seminaries. The network equips future pastors to cultivate biblical wisdom in how believers do their work and participate in the economy. Pastors should help people realize they are stewards; you are a steward of yourself and your relationships with others, and you are also a citizen of a community that has an obligation to steward itself for coming generations. You have the opportunity and privilege of being responsible for cultivating your own life in cooperation with God, for helping your neighbors to flourish as fellow stewards, and for helping pass on a flourishing civilization to our children. This integrated, whole-life approach to discipleship gives a central place to making the world a better place through your work, and having the economic wisdom to understand how the community flourishes through people exchanging their work, because work takes up most of human life.
