As the director of operations, Tammy Hammell is the engine that keeps our programs and administration running smoothly. She makes effectiveness and efficiency her daily motto as she juggles the development and oversight of our tools and procedures. In addition to managing ongoing staff development and training, Hammell oversees the Foundation’s yearly self-assessment project.

Hammell joined the Foundation’s K12 Education Program in 2014 to support and develop implementation, assessment, and evaluation strategies. With a team of innovative partners, she fostered the development of collaborative networks of grantees and other allied organizations.

Prior to joining the Foundation, Hammell worked as the regional vice president at Knowledge Universe, a leading global education organization that oversees a network of more than 3,700 locations worldwide. While with the company, her passion for providing quality experiences in childhood education led to the achievement of 86 percent national accreditation in her region.

Hammell has also been a member of the Waukesha County Technical College childcare advisory committee for the past 15 years, and has served on Gov. Doyle’s Quality Counts for Kids task force. She earned her bachelor’s degree in human services from Upper Iowa University.
